I am happy with it, well, we both are! - Just wish we could be in, now - But it's getting closer and closer ... But, rather annoyingly, life has got in the way somewhat, over these last few weeks, so we've not been able to do a lot. We just need to get back into the swing of things again, with the house. We'll get there again!

Fireplace is going black, think they look best in it!
I can't stand UPVC, either - Can't wait to get rid of the aluminium glazing on most of the house!
The other thing we did get, was another sofa for the front room!
The other priority is to rewire the house and to get the central heating in - Get all the mucky stuff out of the way first.
Thinking about getting something like this for the front room:

(Not the actual one I'm looking at, but I can't find the photo of that - But it's similar, just less bulky)
What are people's views - Are they as efficient?
I don't want to put a radiator in the bay & there's a fireplace on the one wall and 2 sofas on the others - So a traditional one will be covered up - I figured something like this would be less intrusive, but don't really want to lose any efficiency?

I too am not a fan of UPVC although we do have it in our house. Have had wooden in the last 2 (more traditional) houses and much prefer.
Don't miss the painting though !! A clean round with the PVC cleaner is much quicker !!
Look forward to the next stage of updates

We've been 'round a couple of yards locally, but they're horrendously priced!
Our house is very late victorian/early edwardian - So it's difficult to find the right sort of stuff.
Still looking for a front door

House is the same period as yours so know how difficult it can be, also still on the trail of a door, found one on ebay but was £700! excluding the frame!
If you do do for a reclaim rad get it sand/bead blasted to remove all the old paint, apart from it being lead based, removing numerous layers of paint improves the heat output quite remarkably.

Fire could do with some work, but it'll be alright - I adore it, it'll be worth it!
Fair point about the rad - We'll definitely have to get that done - There's some horrid old thick white paint on it at the moment, so will have to sort that out.
Well done on sorting the bedroom!! What's your next hurdle?

Fire will be worth it, I'll see if I can get a picture up of my fire later
My next is to tidy the back garden up then onto the other bedrooms over winter, which should be easier as they are simply redecorate (well unless the plaster falls off the walls/ceilings when i take four layers of wallpaper off lol!)

Would be great to see your fire! Do you have a before shot, too? Wonder if it's worth getting it dipped or anything - It's quite orange, lol
