Do the late-style seats that came in c.1993 (the ones which have some lateral support) fit on the same sub frames as the deck chairs?

These are the sort I mean:

I notice they have a handle on the inside that looks like the handle to pull them forward and they have proper winding adjusters on the sides, but I don't know if that affects the sub frame design or not.

if what your asking is, will the new seats fit in an older car then yes they will, it would be hard to put the new seat foams etc on an old frame tho they are a different shape frame underneath from what i can see of pictures

yer they bolt straight in, the picture you put up are of spi seats, the handle on the side of these tilts the whole seat forward, just like the old ones. however, the mpi seats have a handle that tilts the back part of the seat. like a modern car

Standard seats don't have subframes. They just fit straight to the car and yes, later seats fit earlier cars.

Great - thanks for the responses. I'll have a look on ebay for a cheap set then.

Oh, one thing: how come the handle to tip them forward is on the inside? Seems a funny place for it.

its for the people in the back to get at. there a knob in the usuall place for the driver to tilt the seat too

haha, I brought some cooper spi seats for my 89 city and couldn't work out which was the drivers seat and which was the passngers seat (for a whoping 20 seconds)

SPi type have the latch on the inside, MPi have it on the outside!

it is indeed, i have a rio, its an interior out of a metro im told and there was a metro rio aswell i think


and just a note that they were just in spi minis with those hadles and seat layout
the rio interior is pictured which was a 1275 carb model
