Nice Mini! I got another Mini for Christmas too! Mine is an '82 Mayfair. You're into RC Cars?! Awesome! I have had quite a few of them. My first was a Traxxas Hawk 2, then I dove right in a bought a VERY highly built Team Associated RC10T from my cousin Dave. I had all kinds of Bolink pan cars, a Kyosho Raider, a Tamiya Blackfoot and a few others I don't quite remember. Then I got into Yamaha Banshees and gave up on RC cars. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I got back into them again.

I figured I had my share of highly modified 1/10th electrics so I would get into Nitro. So, I bought a Traxxas Jato....what a ROCKET! I spent nearly $500 in upgrades and then got the bug to build a VERY rare RC10T again. So, I contacted Richard Royal (from RPM) and he personally sold me one of the last brand new RPM RC10T chassis kits. I built it up and it sat on my shelf for a year. I eventually sold it to fund my '93 Banshee build. The only RC cars I have left are a Team Associated RC10B4 Factory Team model and a Mugen Seiki MST-1 with a .18 engine that is new....I have to figure out how I'm going to mount it. Lol! I hope you don't mind...here is some pictures of my other loves besides my Mini!

great little collection you had/have there trail of dead. im still very much in the hobby, but may step back a bit now i have a mini lol

im planning on building a bike from scratch (this is RC) and trying to be the first rc bike to break 100mph this september... so have to have something built by then

as for real cars, i know nothing lol i sort of know how they work, but if you told me to change a part, it might take me a few hundred hours. im a logical person and get through most tasks like this, but i would like to know what i was doing...

thanks Kam for the websites, ill sign up to the LE thing once i find out my registration :)

i cant wait to start getting parts and putting it on the car, and thanks for all the support, best reception i have had on a forum ever ;)

EDIT: i cant register my car on the LE site, as its off the road at the moment, because i need to fix it  but will put it on there asap

welcome to the forum! please dont put white stripes on your racing green! please! the racing green was produced in 1989, came as standard with a rev counter and stereo and white roof, it was the first mini to have a white roof other than a cooper! it was given a white roof to give it the sporty look! and because of this so many people gave them white stripes!!! anyway, it was produced with 12 inch steel wheels and hub caps, then later became available with whats known as "RSP" minilite style, or rover lites, they had the wheel stud wheels inline with the "spoke" of the wheel. was produced with 4 other minis, as mentioned the racing flame, basically a red version of yours, and the checkmate, a black version! which it may be down as on the log book! there was also the lesser known sky and rose, both white minis with the same spec, but the sky had a blue roof and the rose had a pink roof! a lot of people say that it was these minis that urged the comeback of the coopers in 1990!

half of the greens and flames made were exported out of the UK, i believe there were 2000 left in the UK, but dont hold me to that! anyway, enjoy the car, there a gorgeous colour and look fantastic when completed, it will be well worth the work!

Welcome to the forum, I'm also a Racing Green owner. What a fantastic Crimbo you must have had.

please dont put white stripes on your racing green! please! the racing green was produced in 1989, came as standard with a rev counter and stereo and white roof, it was the first mini to have a white roof other than a cooper! it was given a white roof to give it the sporty look! and because of this so many people gave them white stripes!!!

Umm..... I have white stripes on my bonnet, although they were fitted by the previous owner. I also have a union jack on my roof.

Thats not the 1989 racing, thats the 1990 racing green.
I own an export Checkmate LE, which is the rarest of three models in the export market, welcome to the forum mate.
Racing green, Flame red and Checkmate were producted in 1650 units only (as far as i remember) and they were the pre-cooper models introducing the forthcoming mainstream cooper, so they share a look similar to the rover carb'd cooper plus they have a sportier 3.44 final drive instead of the 3.1 fitted to the mayfair.
The option list features a John Cooper Garages convertion including twin hs2 carbs, jonspeed head, lcb manifold and twin tailpipe side exhaust, another options in the list were white 5x12 minilites, cooper grille, bumper overriders and some other stuff already available at most parts suppliers.
Heres a brochure you might look at:

thanks for all the info guys, so my car is 20 years old next year then?

i was planning on painting it all white with some custom decals of fake sponsors all over it.... just kidding, i will be keeping it as original looking as possible and then maybe upgrade the engine.

on boxing day, i gave it a little run in the drive (as i had to move it across) and i was over reving it loads because i felt no resistence on the throttle, is there anyway of increasing the resistance, as i dont want to be always over reving the engine...

thanks for the links and info guys

You could fit an extra spring to the throttle cable at the carb. This is what I have done as I like a lot of resistance on the pedal.

Youl might find that on the V5 registration document the car is called a Racing Flame. I believe this happened with these special editions? Lots of people come on here saying they have a Racing Flame when really they mean Flame Red or Racing Green...
