I have a 1997 Mpi Mini Cooper.
The car has stood in the garage without use for a few weeks.
After turning the igintion key I get power( lights/SRS on dash) but just a clicking noise from the engine.
Will a full (out of car) battery charge sort the problem?
What is the clicking?
Do I need a new part and if so what?
Any help gratefully received.
Stephen

that sounds like the battery is flat mate. Either stick another battery on it or use jump leads from another vehicle to start yours. The battery will recharge as you drive.

The clicking is probably the start motor solenoid throwing over, but there's not enough go in the battery to actually spin the starter.
Get the battery out, give it a nice slow charge overnight and normal service should be resumed

Thanks for your quick replies.
You have confirmed what I suspected.
Its just I was talking to a "biker" friend who suggested I needed to push the solenoid manually or alternatively get a new one!
I will give the battery a good charge.
Cheers
