Its taken me ages to find a mini that just seemed to make me think thats the one..

It got its name from a previous owner who spotted me putting pictures up on here..

I collected yesterday, had no problems driving it home, which must be a good start with some of the threads you read on here..

The body and paint are as close to perfect as it can be, the interior could do with a freshen up along with the engine bay, both are practically fine, just not shiny and fresh enough for me..

Engine bay..

Boot..

Needs a wire brush and a paint, the battery tray is solid but has a good layer of surface rust..

This is first on my list, along with a new heater matrix..

Will get some better pictures later when im not being rushed for dinner!

Wow. Looking good Rusty. You need to add putting a club sticker on the window to the list as well. Good to hear you got it back aright. I'll have to tell you the story of when I first bought my mini back. My god that was a terrifying journey.

Happy new year as well!
:P

I have a question. What's that thing in the top right had corner of the boot. I just went out to look at my car and I don't have one of those.

Simon tells me that it was originally a SPI and its been converted to carb, my guess is.. it looks like a position for a switch?

I see. I hope you don't get too many problems MOTing it then. I'll have a look at Lees mini next time I see him and see if he was one of those in his boot.

Its the switch holder for the boot courtesy light.
Doesnt apear to have a switch isntall though.

All Minis after a certain year had it, but not all had the light. :)

That is a very tidy car. I hope jon's planning on dragging you along to the next SCMC meet with it.

yer its deffo a spi converted to carb, good move in my opinion. the paint is absolutely brilliant on it, completely flat with hardly a mark on it.

rusty, dont forget you NEED to drain your coolant and replace it with a anti freeze mix, if you leave it as just water and it freezes your right up crap creek.

The bracket in the top right hand corner is for the factory fit Rover Mems alarm :)
Most of the 1275,s had the bracket but they only started putting the alarms on cars from aroun N plate Onwards ie/ SPI cars though ive seen ealy N plates with an immobilser but no Alarm :)

Ive also seen much earlier Coopers with Both :)
I think because the Cooper had Throttle Body Injection earlier than the Sprites,Mayfairs etc they altered the tooling so the shells were ready for the aditions needed for injection :)

On Cars with Rover Mems that bracket has a switch in it and if you open the boot without disabling the alarm the alarm will sound ;)

I know you car had an mot but with it being changed to carbs it will be harder to get it's through it's next emissions test.

And yes scmc is south central mini club. You want to go to the next meet? Show off your new car and all.

Well its been cold over the last few days and its started getting to the point where inside my windows was freezing up before the outside.. :D

This was due to the heater not working! :)

I knew it wasnt working when i bought the car but have only just had time to look at it.. It would have *drunk* out water on the drive home the but we bypassed the heater matrix from the loop so the leak wasnt a problem..

The tiny black dot is the hole, im suprised at the amount of water that came out of here..

Posted Image

I'm going to try and block it up with some plumbing putty or something and if that doesnt work it looks like i'll be buying a new one..

And i though whilst it was out i'd give it a little paint, even though its hardly seen due to the centre console..

Posted Image

Posted Image

There's a few hairs from the paint brush etc.. but i doubt i'll bother sanding them out probably just paint over it again as its not like its an easily seen part..

Hi Rusty,

Congrats on buying Leeroy, I hope he's good to you!

Just to let you know, he was never an spi, always carb...I bought him off the original owner and he was completely 100% standard, not even a radio fitted.

I took the cat off when I did the stage 1 kit, and it went through the MOT fine for me.

Looking forward to see how you get on with him :D

lovely car. have you got any plans for it or are you just going to keep it standard? very clean car, the previous owner obviously took good care of it.
