Greetings! Just found this forum. Have posted previously on MiniPortal, but that site seems to be broken at the moment.
FWIW, I'm posting from the North central US and am relatively new to the great Mini world, having never owned a British car until this one snatched my heart and a bit of my wallet a year ago. 'Spot' is a 1965 MkII... doesn't make sense? You're right on that. 'Spot' was a MkI SuperDeluxe, but the restoration began 5 yrs ago, the shop determined the shell was bent to badly to be made straight again. So, the shell was replaced with a solid 1968 shell, and the customer decided to do a resto-mod, building it into a MkII Cooper S clone. So, now it runs a twin carb 1293 with LCT header and the usual hop up bits... also the Cooper S disc brakes, etc.
Anyway, this little car has been tremendous fun so far. 'Spot' is a tenacious trooper with a lot of grit. He'll autocross all day without breaking a sweat. Loves to be "rode hard & put away wet". I'm sold and may never again be Miniless.
GREETINGS
