Hi,

Just finishing wiring in my megajolt, and I need to take a 12v switched live to power the EDIS module, ford coilpack and MJ unit.

Thing is, it needs to be live when ignition is on, and whilst cranking. Since my coil was powered by the 9v pink / white wire, this isnt much good to me.

Where can I find a suitable source for this? And, since the megajolt, EDIS and coilpack all need to get power from the same point, is it better to run 3 wires from it or one with two wires spliced into it.

Thanks!

JJ

i just took a switched ignition feed from the fuse box and the power went to the edis unit and then ran from that to the ecu and edis powered the coil pack

Thanks, so I'm right in thinking it would be Ok to take one switched live, splice it into 3 wires. Then, run these through a fusebox, (the differant components need differantly rated fuses iirc) and off to their respective components.

Thanks,

JJ

Thanks for that,

"It's strongly recommended you power the EDIS module and MJLJ from the same electrical circuit. Typically this will be +12V switched (Key to "on" position)"

I knew this, but does this mean take the wiring diagram literally, and splice into one 12v wire to power the three components? Cheers, JJ

On my mj install. I ran an ignition live from the fusebox to a small 4 way blade type fusebox with a seperated feed to the EDIS, coil and mj unit each is run from the same power source or circuit but is individually fused for protection.

The white wire going to the top fuse in the 4 fuse block on my 1990 998cc is switched 12v while the ignition is on and while cranking. I used that to power the Pertronix Ignitor I just installed, although I don't know how much load that wire is supposed to handle, so I'd be extra careful if I tried that with your three units.

Thanks! Thats what I needed to know, will get that installed tomorrow! :D

Thanks Jmetal too, I'll be having the multimeter out to make sure.

Agree with what jmetal88 said. Although the coil is originally supplied by a non fused supply (ie left hand side of fusebox and top fuse). So you can supply megajolt and accessories from the same side via an extra fuse if you wanted.

Don't worry about the power being used, it will be very similar to that of the orignal ignition system

an make sure you use a good amp wire, i would also recommend you put it through a separate fuse, i have also put the mj through a switch

Will 8 amp wire be Ok for this? I have plenty of this to hand.

Thanks once again guys, great info!

It'll be fine for the MJ & EDIS. Use 15A for the coil.

Thanks Ethel, will nip out and get some.

Also, is there any advantage to having the megajolt on a switch?

I have it on a seperate unmarked switch so i can change my maps on the computer without having the ignition, plus i leave it in the off position (along with my fuel pump) at night in case of any one who decides to rob it, they wont get very far very fast.

^Good idea actually, might fit one and hide the switch.

Thanks
