My 1030 engine made 62 bhp, thats with an SW5 cam, standard sintered rockers (a measly 1.2 ratio) and Slark 'modified' (read botched, unsuitable and a rip off!) MG metro cylinder head with race type inlet valves and modified exhaust valves, freeflow maniflod, rc40, minispares inlet, hif44 and standard air filter case with k+n element. It makes a really good drive with loads of torque and top end pull but will do better i'm sure when i replace the cylinder head with something more near standard port-size wise, but actually with some work to the valve throat area where it matters! I'm also going to replace the hif44 for a flowed '38 and maybe test out 1.3 rockers too. I've also got a megajolt kit ready to fit as this will ensure the engine is giving it's best at all revs and loads (Once mapped). The dizzy will never achieve this even if set up perfectly, something nobody seems to be able to do anyway in my experience, atleast with a vac unit, and without this the engine will only have the correct advance at full throttle, meaning poor part-throttle power/response, and poor fuel economy as a result.

Your problem (timmy G) is with the SW5 cam! Get a decent cam (MG Metro - or 544 for max power) in there - it will fly. And keep the HIF44. Don't use high lift rockers - they just cause lots of extra wear for very little power increase.

MG metro would be worse, but the 544 would make more power.

MG Metro a whole lot better than the SW5!! But yes - for real power -the 544 is the answer in the small engine.
