Thats helped loads...
Dont suppose you have any more information on how those spring things work? Think they might suit my car better, style wise?
Are they likely to be nicked by some thieving pikey or they quite secure?
Thanks in advance

I bloody froze to death taking the pic of that red cooper
Some rally to Monte carol and one of the checkpoints was 10 mins from home
Middle of Feb. and staring to snow

Got a pic of the spring things in more detail
If I were u I would keep the original bonnet catch as well

my old mini with brown leather straps, got called a GAY and got the *yellow human water* ripped for liking leather

i liked them though, be sure to rust proof properly. i drilled through the bonnet and just next to the headlight. they are supplied with nylok nuts and washers.

The reason i am looking for a new lock down method, is that the bonnet catch isnt working properly and i cant figure out why, also i like the look of something else, like the straps, pins or springs.
I have an alarm on it so theres no worries with the bonnet being opened, but i need to make sure nobody can take the springs or pins away from the car.

can u close it and find it still moves as if not shut fully
if so it has something to do with the spring on the bonnet

no, it closes, then you can pull it back open
ok i see why u need a different method now

the srings can't be nicked as both parts are fixed to the car
and if u fit them with some tension should hold the best to
the pins can be removed = bonnet flying up at speed if u don't notice

I will try my best to repair the catch as another way of stopping anyone getting in the bonnet, but for piece of mind, the springs will be purchased!
