yeah ive done all the valve gaps and i labled the leads them so i knew which ones to put where. i took out a sparky and got my dad to turn it over and there was no spark but it does seem that petrol is getting through. bit stuck on what to do next?

try turning it over then take the plugs out, if their wet then ur getting fuel, next rest the spark plug somewhere it can earth out, have someone turn it over whilst you check for a spark

you did put a gasket back on? Only say that because i done a headgasket, late on night, and went to start it, only to find the new gasket on the passenger seat, lol

is the coil connected? Did you take the distributor cap off when you done the gasket?

earths good, coil is connected and the rotor arm spins round fine. the leads are fairly new so doubt it would be them but you never know?

Must be something in the ignition side that you have disturbed - is the rotor arm definitely in there? And the little carbon contact in the cap - hasn't fallen out ?

sounds like it could be a coil problem. did you check the points on the distributor?

i was going to say about the little carbon bit, lol, have points got a gap of 0.12"? Have you got another condenser and coil you can try? Have you got power going to the coil?

Apologies for posting so many times, computers been *peeing* around lately

okay, i decided to whip out mr haynes and i tried a method of putting a nail in the end of the ht lead and see if it sparks and it says it should give out a "strong blue spark" but i got no sparks while my dad was turning the key, it was the same story with all of the leads? still confused :D

pull off the dizzy cap, turn ignition on, and flick the points with a screwdriver you should see a spark.

If no spark look at the coil the positive terminal see if theres voltage getting to it.
