Unfortunatly my love for aircooled VW's has got too much, one has come up and i really want it.
Which unfortunatly means i may have to sell Frankie, nothing is definate yet, im just trying to see how much money i can peice together.

Anyway here he is.

Good points

Its 998cc engine, with a Moss stage 1 kit fitted.

Very recently rebuilt gearbox and new clutch ( Thanks to Guessworks )

New engine mounts fitted, when stage 1 was fitted.

Body restoration approx 2 years ago ( cannot be certain, as i did not own the car then )

New fuel sender unit.

OG grill fitted ( sprayed matt black ), Also comes with Stainless steel grill, in perfect condition.

OG Steering wheel, will come with car.

OG rear lenses, will come with car.

Recently fitted 2 new 6x9's 300W

Sony CD/MP3 player.

New carpet set.

New yellow silicone HT leads ( not fitted )

Chrome washer jet kit ( not fitted )

New footwell lights ( not fitted )

Recent service, including new spark plugs.

The yellow boot ( dented/filler ) can come with car if needed

Bad points. ( from the top of my head )

Small hole in driver's floorpan.

Small hole ( 2p peice size ) in the rear O/S arch.

Bubbling under front headlights, nothing major, has not blistered through.

Second speed, on wipers is a bit dodgy, ( think this is to do with the stalk )

Slight surface rust on the bottom of both doors..

Crack in front numberplate ( I have a replacement )

Rear bumper dented, ( which is why black boot is fitted )

That is all i can think of at the moment.

He is a great car to drive, in very good condition considering his age, and will be perfect for a first car, i even learnt to drive in him.

Pictures

I will get better pictures tomorrow of the main areas. ( Now has Stone guards fitted, and OG grill )

It'll realise it's best price on eBay probably... it'll be more than £600, I'm quite confident in that.

The only thing that would put off somone in the know are the oversills, god knows what horrors they're covering up! Looks ok generally for one of it's age.

Probebly stupid question.
But oversills? Are they the ones under the doors?

Oversills are sill panels (the vertical panel that run under the doors, which go under the car) that have been plonked over the top of the original sills to cover up rust. Looking at your pictures, I 'think' it has had oversills, which is not ideal.

On the other hand, if they are original sill panels that have been patched/ undersealed, then that's not too bad.

One way to tell- see the square-ish vents in the sills? Are they closed or still have their ventilation gaps in them?

From the outside they look solid, a tiny hole in one of them, obviously cant be certain what lies beneath.
Ventialtion gaps? If you mean the holes in the squares, then yes they are there.

Ill quickly go into the garage and get a better picture

Excellent, sounds like original sills then, or a half-sensible repair, look forward to the picture. This will help the sale of it to someone who's had to weld them up in the past.. :geek:
