Stage 3 Minispeed Head (skimmed)
Posted 11 January 2010 - 05:26 PM
I have a minispeed stage 3 head that i had on my car but it kept blowing head gaskets so i took the head off and replaced it. then i got the head checked as i assumed it was warped and needed skimmed, turns out its already been skimmed and had far too much taken off it so its a really high compression, consequently blows head gaskets. It needs a decompression plate fittted when it is being used.
My question is, how much is it worth in this state?
I have a receipt from the previous owner from minispeed for £350
Is it even worth selling?

a engine with a rebore might bring the compression ratio down a bit

I think you'd be able to open out the compression chamber on as there is no work done to this section. I know my dave vizard head i have on now has been opened out considerably around the compression chamber.

probably just an unleaded conversion

and, it is ported on the inlets and exhausts and polished and has considerably larger valves than standard size.
