i have just had a stage one kit fitted to my 85 1275(HIF44). its one from minispares and has been professionally installed and set up. i have been having problems when i am driving, when i put my foot down, i get a lot of noise, but not much else happens. the car seems to bog down and be held back somehow. the only other thing i noticed is that when i was going along the bypass the car wouldnt do above 50 and that it backfired through the carb?

does this sound like a weak mixture setting?

cheers

Can't be - you say " has been professionally installed " - must be some 'professionals'! :D :geek:

It's very obviously not right and could be causing major damage to the engine - ie - burned pistons/valves etc!

What needle is in the carb ?

The so called 'professionals' who fitted the kit should have done that!! Otherwise - why pay them?????????

He obviously DOESN'T know Minis - if he left your car in that state!! I would have expected BDL needle. It works.

its from the minispares stage one kit, i will tweak the mixture, to see if that makes any difference. if not i may think about a new needle!

i had the same problem with my 1275 when i but a stage 1 kit on. if i rememder rigthy the bbw needle made it really rich which made it cough and splutter. i think that i used a bdl or a bdk needle in it in the end.

The BBW is slightly weaker than the BDL - but I would have thought it would work not too badly.

Colourtune is a waste of time ! Set the idle with the lift pin - or use a small screwdriver blade to lift the piston. And then - check the spark plug colour!
