HI, I have a morspeed 1340 engine with a 286 cam slightly modified to idle better lol, a mini spears stage 3 head and mini sport 1.5 roller rockers, this recently blew my dif up and cracked the box too !! :withstupid: All fixed now with morspeed x pin diff and recon box!! But I would like to fit a chrome still rocker cover, I have the ally one fitted and I don’t like the look of them! Could anyone tell me if my rockers will hit the cover??? Thanks tony ;)

Easy - get rid of the daft high lift rockers - which only cause lots of wear and add (at best) 1 bhp to top power, while losing power lower down. Standard rockers (use the pressed steel ones) won't foul the rocker cover!

The Titan 1.5 roller rockers on my motor hit all the covers I tried, even the MG Metro cover, so I ended up buying the Mini Spares alloy branded one which clears just fine.

However most people seem to manage to fit the MG cover, so maybe my Titans are just particularly big.

I think the mini spares latest MPI steel cover description says it will fit over 1.5 rockers but have a look to check.

OK then so they are draft yes bmcecosse ?? So reducing the side loads and where on valves is daft??? Also reducing the weight of the rockers will help the engine rev more freely!! Plus adding more than 1bhp hummmm so draft would be you!!!!!! And plus if you would like to take that up with morspeed witch I am shore they now a dam sight more than you they will tell you the same !! Is this is also why they use them in racing??? :withstupid: !!!!! Tony ;)

I usually grind a touch out of the inside back of cover, they only just touch anyway, a few thou off usually does the trick.

No with the alloy ones, i think a steel one should clear anyway...it's much thinner metal.

Yes I managed to grind out the back of the MG metro cover to clear them but made a bit of a hash of it to be honest and it took me ages with my cheapo burrs, but it is fine if you have the skills.

Maybe tapping out the back of a Steel cover will provide more clearance. Possibly you could panel beat it carefully, with a panel beating hammer.

Again I couldnt be bothered with this so bought a cover. :withstupid:

lol at this post! :withstupid: i fitted these to my 1293 mini, thats got a 256 cam AT THE MOMENT, and realised the "1" bhp difference. If they were as *melon* as tyou may think they are they wouldnt sell them, would they? Why not speak to the people who sell these "daft" roller rockers, such as minispares, minisport, morspeed, KAD, etc bmcecosse, again its not up to you what me and others put on our minis !!!

well its the engine out of ernie (red one in picture) which sadly i rolled a couple of times, ouch. When it was in the car it was a 1330 with a stage 2ish head and a kent 276 cam, which was great but in my opinion come onto cam too low for my liking, so i have it in bits and am fitting a kent 296 or 310 cam to it, i think itll be the 310 though :withstupid: . I will be taking the crank, rods and pistons to be lightened, balanced etc, and am changing the diff ratio to something a tad more revvy. ;)
