I have got plans to do up another mini in the future. The thing is that i want it to be a pre 76 so i can legally have black and white plates. The thing is how do i go around re-shelling the car to a BHM shell? Can it be a straight swap for the shell as its not been registered before (read the faq got a bit confused) From my understanding of the FAQ i am allowed to do this even if most of the parts will be new.

As for the things that will be done its a secret

Also how much do you think a project like this will cost?

Cheers

Yeah, doing a re-shell is legal on any Mini IF you are using a brand new shell.

Using a second hand good shell is very common practise I am afraid, but it still aint legal!

Id love to legally be allowed the black and white plates.. they really finish the look in my opinion...

Id also love, in years to come, to build a bike engined minus.

Well I think your talking about 2-3k for a shell (not sure if thats in primer), depending in which shell you go for, and also depending on whether you get new doors, bonnet, boot from them as well. The you need to fit all the parts to it, which if you do your shelf won't really cost you anything bar price of parts. And then theres the cost of a paint job, which can cost between £500 and a few thousand depending on quality and how much of the prep work you do yourself.
