My mini sometimes stutters whilst driving along. What i mean is that i can be cruising along quite happily and then the power seems to stutter. It seems to happen more if i'm going up hill, and only when the fuel level drops to around half a tank. It doesn't lose power completely. It's almost as though a small blockage is forming that is restricting the flow of fuel, and then all of a sudden it clears again. Or maybe its as if there is air in the fuel system. I don't know.

Could this be a fuel pump problem? My simple logic says that when the tank is fuller there will be more pressure and therefore the pump wouldn't have to work as hard. Or i have no idea how these things actually work :)

Or could it be a blockage in the fuel system somewhere? Or could the sypmtoms be nothing to do with the fuel system at all?

Would be worth fitting a new fuel filter, only cost a few quid and should be changed as part of the service history anyway, if it's not been done it could be full of crud or water.

by the way - Have you got a SStutter or just a fan of Open all Hours?!
