When i buy a car, i want the milage stated on the clock to be correct and not messed around with so i personally would never take the cable out. Although its a lot harder to tell if millage is correct with Minis since clocks can be swapped so easily.
Im coming up to the limit on my policy and will be simply ringing the insurance company to have it extended and incurring the cost of doing so.
