Hi All,

As you all know, this event is called the BH2NRR that is Brands Hatch to Nurburgring RETRO RUN
Last year there was a lot of discussion between the organisers of 'whats retro, and whats not'. This year we will be approving each application to eliminate the more modern cars from coming and keep it strictly to retro cars and mini's.

So, cars which are automatically eligible to join the run are as follows:

All Mini's (This is a Mini Club after all!!)
All PRE 1990 cars (The definition of Retro being employed for this event is any car that was first manufactured before 1990 but continued post 1990 in the same guise and model release. I.E. MK2 Astra, E30 BMW, Peugeot 205, VW Polo to MK 2 only) If you are unsure as to whether your car qualifies, please drop me a PM with your cars full details and I'll let you know.

Simply put, if your car's model was first manufactured after 1990, then it is not eligible. All is not lost though as you will still be able to take your 'modern' car but not as an official BH2N runner. You will be responsible for booking your own ferry and camping and you won't receive a run pack, stickers etc, nor will you be able to do the parade laps but you can still 'tag along' so to speak.

I hope that's clear for everyone and that you like the change.

Oh, brill

That's literally just ruined my year. Anyone want to lend me a few grand so I can buy something old enough?

Hi all, not been on here for a while. I was in the big red 535i in the next field last year and in the RX7 on the run the year before.

If there are to be exceptions to the rule, like the 205GTI, then why not alter the rules to fit? Why not just say if a particular model was in production pre '90 then it's eligable? That would cover the likes of the 205GTIs, E30 BMWs etc etc even if they happened to be registered after '90. Hopefully this way people will know where they stand and not have to rely on other peoples opinions. I think you're right to have some sort of eligibility rules to maintain its integrity as a Retro / Mini run. Just my opinion of course. :shifty:

I like MonteNick's idea to be honest.

Unfortunately due to me starting Uni in September I am going to have to sell my Mini to fund it. I've been on BH2N every single year, 4 years in the Mini and last year I took my VW Corrado because the Mini broke literally 8 hours before I was due to leave :shifty:

I was planning on putting a small amount of cash from the Mini sale to one side in order to fund this years trip, but the car I'm planning on bringing is a '94 Corrado VR6, meaning I'll be ineligible to attend under the new ruling. However, if the rule was adjusted to include cars which started production pre 1990 that would make me eligible, as the first Corrado was manufactured in 1989.

I understand though that rules are rules, so if it's kept as it is I'll have to give it a miss this year.

Please read my original post again as we have listened to what's been suggested and have amended the eligibility rules accordingly.

Ah, now last year I was technically a tagger-on/support vehicle, but incapable as I am, my ferry and camping were booked by the ever-so-helpful BH2N team, and relatively late-on I was offered a run-pack as there were some going spare (so I'm not the evil modern car driving space taker I appeared to be - plus I had Bec on board - instant redeemer!), is there going to be a possibility of doing the booking again? I realise it may seem stupidly easy to those who do, but to those who don't it really is quite a daunting idea.

As it goes I am on the search for an older car but I do uber-mileage so can't use one everyday (and finding one on the cheap which actually works and I can run alongside the Pug is not easy) but if I don't have something "retro" I will probably cry myself to death if I can't go, my car is more tatty and unreliable than most of the retro cars going anyway  :D ... And I too am tatty and unreliable so will the window be left open just enough for me to tumble through into the booking room if I find it as hopelessly confusing as I think I will?
