Easiest thing to do is get a gauge set from a same ge mayfair. That way the can plug straight in as the tacho wire is tucked behind the dash.

What age clock have you bought.

As Llewwelyn said you really need to get a set of smiths tripple clocks as the ones you have spound like they are nippon clocks from a later 1275 and you will never get them to read correctly :)

I bet somewhere on here there is somebody who has the ones you need and needs the ones you have, worth asking around :P
The wiring for the tacho is almost certainly already there just look for two wires tied out of the way,one with a spade one with a bullet close to the clocks

they will only fit on one way :(

yer can get gt clocks to read in a city. i have gt clocks and a metro engine.

you will need to change the speedo drive not the cable. and im afraid this is an engine out job but if i was you i would plug it in and see how far out it reads. a working speedo isnt a mot requirement so you dont need to worry about that. it just might be that youll be doing 30mph and the clock will say 28. but youll soon get used to this.
i use the revs to guess my speed more, i drove for a year without a speedo and i could get those speed dectector things to read 30 every time.

and the rev counter wires should be behind your dash.

A 90's city will have nippon clocks not smiths, nippon seiki clocks came in 90 and 110 mph versions. Your speedo will read out BUT you can swap your speedo over, just take the front off and theres only 2 screws at the back that holds the speedo in, then you can keep your mileage and more or less accurate speedo readings.

The 2 wires should be tucked behind the cluster for the rev counter. (Taped up usually).

Fair play i thought they were still on smiths clocks
But as Pauly said there is the option to use your own speedo but the rev counter from the thre pack you have ;) Still not sure itll read correctly though? i recently saw a 998 with a 1275 tacho and it showed the idle at about 1500 rpm when you could clearly hear it wasnt :(

If your car has smiths gauges you need smith gauges if it has nippon you need those but as others have said get the three pack from a 998 mayfair

My new clocks are from a older copper.
can i take the speedo out the cluster i have ATM and put it in the new 3 clock cluster. id rather do this as the cars only done 40k and the new clocks read at 75k. would jus devalue the car a bit.

Do you have a picture of these clocks? If they are the same style as your current clocks it will be alot easier to just change the speedo over.

No that's not always the case.

You will notice that the tacho is a seperate pod from the rest. Just use the tacho and the 3 clock PCB from the back. Keep the rest of your clocks, then everything will definitely work and you'll keep your own odometer. And it's easier than stripping the speedo head out of them both and swapping them. If you are using this in the original type (but now 3 clock) binnacle rather than with a flat dash you will need the three clock version of the mounting bracket as it's different.

Seeing as the clocks have the binacle off, you just clip off the clear covers, remove the black outer bezel, 2 screws on the back of the speedo and its out, switch them over job done.

Hi,
I have just got the same 3 clocks as above and want to fit them to my 1992 British Open Classic, does anyone know how to go about doing this, in the sense of there being tacho wires and actaully mounting (would i have to get a dash?).

Also, how does the 3 clock set up fit to the rear of a dash?

Thanks!
