Woohoo, finally finished all of the bodywork. Managed to get the left hand side of the bodykit painted and refitted. Again very pleased with the finish but learned a lesson with spraying and that is to clean the gun until you think it's completely spotless then do it again just to be sure. I started spraying the clear coat only to have loads of bits of dried clearcoat that must have been in the gun come out all over the kit. Luckily as it was only in the clear coat I flatted it out afterwards.

I really want to get the car back on the road now especially when I see the sun out but there's still a few things left to be done including a service, drive shaft and gear shift oil seals then it's just lots of polishing and cleaning to do. I've also got a nice 12" JL sub on the way so I've got to give it some thought on where that's going to go and what amp to use with it. Lots of time off work over the next couple of weeks so it should all be done very soon >_<

Been busy again >_<

Time to sort out a small oil leak so I jacked it up and replaced the drive shaft oil seal. I had both drive shaft seals and a gear shift oil seal to do but only one of the seals needed replacing. While it was on the jacks I also changed the oil and filter and gave it a minor service, it's only done 4000 miles since the last major service. I also done a bit of tarting up under the bonnet and I was going to do a bit more but Colin turned up with his Mayfair with a list of problems and I thought I may as well sort his car out first.

I also award myself the w@nker of the week award for missing the ball joint splitter with the hammer and taking a chunk out of the newly painted body kit. Arrrggggg *melons*

its really good to see something a bit different to the norm
really love the little details like the jacking points and the re-routed fresh air intake

really good work aswell, i must find out whats wrong with the compressor i have so i can practice some spraying
would you say its good enough to spray a full mini with the size compressor you have??

once again tho, really good quality work, bet your really proud of it

ill remind myself to do the other bits i need doing before the paint tho, then i dont hit it with a hammer or something daft >_<

Fantastic work mate. The spraying looks excellent! What gun are you using and what size needle for base and clear coat is in it?

The compressor is probably a bit too small to spray a whole car, although I'm sure you could do if you were patient with it. You have to wait a while for pressure to build back up each time.

The gun was just a cheap Sealey HVLP fitted with a 1.4mm nozzle. I could have done with a bigger nozzle for spraying the filler primer.

Time to upgrade the sound system.

I always used to be well into car audio but I have managed to avoid the temptation with the ERA or at least I did do until a mate gave me a 12" JL sub in thanks for a favour I done for him.

I bought some grey leatherette vinyl from ebay and some 18mm MDF from B&Q for the boot build.

I've started with the easiest side, the fuel tank and cut out the MDF to the shape of the fuel tank then covered it in the vinyl. Just got to do the right hand side and the boot floor now.

Just got to get it all setup now and finish off a few things. Sounds crap at the moment, everything rattle's and vibrates
