Hi, I recently took the engine out of my Mpi, now when I go to start it I turn the key, the dash lights come on (oil and battery) then a second later they go off again and the car wont start. I suspect a possible relay issue as I can here a clicking noise when i turn the key then another click when the lights go out.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!!?

check both your battery leads are on and tight mine did this and the positive lead had jumped off but was sitting on top of the battry post.

I did only put the battery back in today so thats a fair point. Pretty sure I did them up nice and tight but I will check to make sure tomorrow

it sounds daft but i thought the same and took a min or two to think about it, as the clamp was sitting on the post there was a good enough connection to turn lights, radio etc on but not enough to start it. a bit like one of those battery isolators that has the radio memory wire on it

Thank you very much jwb moto, I re-made the connections today and found that the negative clamp was slightly loose even when the bolt was done right up so I ovaled it slightly then cranked it up hard and she fired up first time! How could I ever have doubted another TMFer!!
Thank you again!

no probs mate, i know the original pressed battery clamps do tend to spread a little so even when the nut is done up tight its still loose!
