Hi guys,
Myself and my lovely girlfriend Lisa are off on a Charity Drive to Turin in 3 Weeks in aid of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
I am just wondering if anyone can share their experiences of driving a mini across France and Italy.
What should we take spare wise, I'm not in the AA or RAC yet, can you get a 2 week European cover??
Im taking a Spare Fan belt, Triangle etc... but what else should we consider.
The car was, well still is a 1991 Miny City, however it does look slightly different now
Thanks guys, and a special thanks to www.theitalianjob.com for their kind LINK on the front page of the website and the special LOGO they made for us....

id take a spare wheel that actually holds air, a proper trolley jack, preferably one of the ally ones, two fanbelts, thermostat, waterpump and 2 gaskets, a headgasket set, 2 sets of points, 2 condensors, 2 rotor arms, 2 distributor caps, a set of ht leads, 2 sets of decent spark plugs, a spare coil, various fuses and crimp connectors, a few lengths of wire, some bulbs, a top and bottom rad hose, spare fluids, a jerry can, a spare fuel pump, some spare fuel hose, various carb bits some exhaust rubbers, a decent set of tools like one of those halfords sets, with the spanners, sockets and ratchets, and some sidecutters, pliers, etc.
Jump leads and a towing rope can also be helpful.
Dont mean to be over the top, but the way i always see it, is itll break if i havent got a spare, lol, you should see how much stuff i take when i go more than 50 miles from home, lol

Also, you might want to put the real plates on because I think the black and whites on a 1991 are illegal

I think they are off a differn't car seeing as they are plates from a 1968 car. So technically they arnt illegal but having those plates on that car is seeing as they are off a different car

SATNAV !!! and fit a cigar lighter for it as well (and to charge mobile phones).
Exhaust clamps, bandage and paste and a few of those repair sleeves that you can just slide on and paste up?
I'll keep adding as I think of things.
and yes, the HiVis vest/jacket is mandatory for all people in the car and I also believe in some countries you have to have 2 x warning triangles?
Have you asked the guys that run the Italian Job, they must have learnt a lot from their experiences !!!
You might want to consider fitting a tow bar and trailer

AA and rac cover can be bought just for the lenght of the journey but i think for me it was like £80 for a week in France. Just go on their website and get a quote.ooo and good luck to you! you cant go wrong with a bag of wine gums added to your list either!
