But with the boot I would want it fitting normally. On the 2 hinges with the door lock. So can this be done if so has anyone got any pictures?
Thanks.

Why can't you use the existing hinges?
you can but you'll need an FG boot with the mouldings for them to attach to i think

Do you mean on the bonnet? If so because theirs no where to fit them to. Not unless yoi fiber glass some mounting bits to it. Which I can't do.

Don't see why they can't be used on a single skin bootlid. I plan to use them on my carbon one when it arrives.

No, I'm talking about the bootlid and the hinges at the bottom. On a steel double skin bootlid the hinges only bolt through the outer skin.

Well thats mainly the reason I started this topic as I didn't know myself. But what about the lock? Cause I'm guessing it wont have the molding for the lock to be fixed in to?

can use the standard hinges, my fibre glass one does not seem to give a tight fit on the
top edge, the rubber seal seams to push the top corners out, i did not have
this problem with the steel boot because it's more rigid

I measured the distance between the outer face of my bootlid and the face of the original latch at 25mm (could someone else do theirs to confirm?)
I then contacted Merlin Motorsport about their Panel Lock and enquired about the latch depth. The latch can be turned round to give a grip depth of 28mm so with a new seal and a bit of elbow grease to maybe bend the latch up a bit I think it could work quite neatly!
I opted for lockable bonnet pins which I will put in the top corners of the boot. Mine's a carbon bootlid worth £160 so it wasn't the contents of the boot I wanted to protect but the lid itself! If you only have a panel lock someone could come along, undo the three nuts holding your bumper on, the four screws holding the bootlid hinges on and the bootlid would come off pretty easy.
