this is a head that came with my project and i believe a 1.3i engine that was quite rusty and suspected to have seized, anyway the head says

looks like its been reconditioned however there's rust on it and possibly inside.

is it worth much and what is it?

thanks in advance

Has the hole for the temperature sender been drilled out ?

If not then it's probably the head off an injection mini... other than that look like a normal 1275 A+ head...

This IS a 12G940 A+ head. It looks like the top has been skimmed at least once.
This often removes the casting number on the late A+ 12G940 heads. Or makes it unreadable.

As GuessWorks pointed correctly, it's probably a SPi head or a 'Sprite'/HIF38 engine head due to the closed heater take off (looks like it's not open on the picture).

Well - at least it's funny coloured

Value... 40-50?

Don't expect too much. I guess in the region of a 998 Cooper; say ~55-60BHP with additional parts like a stg. 1 kit and a 'hot'-ish camshaft. Maybe less if the engine is tired. Remeber they were good for ~61BHP in the Rover Cooper which had a relatively 'hot' cam (MG Metro to be precise) and ~300cc more capacity (but then was bit choked by the kat).

To see the actuall performance gain; put the engine on a dyne before and after. Everything else is telling fairy tales :trooper:

But well - if you have it, don't need the money, can spend a little bit and want more power from a 998 - do it!!

Depending on how worn the head is you might have to spend a fair few pounds on it to get it road worthy again, though... There is no point in using pitted valves on pitted valve seats with badly worn valve guides

i think i could just about make out 12g940 some of it was unreadable but there was a 12 and a 0 at the end.

so 50 quid? is that a reasonable price?

All that paint needs stripping off, especially on the back where the manifold gasket sits against.....

£35 with the rockers max in my opinion, safe to assume the valves will need a quick lap too.

ok so i will put it on as a 12g940 and am still not entirly sure i will sell at £35 but as i have never sold anything ever before, i would say arrange own courier. or collect

i need to get shot of that engine too, its in poor condition (seized) but im sure if sombody was keen and had the money they could rebuild it. id sell that for a 10er
but im not sure if i should list it.

99p start no reserve, get whatever you can for the engine since it's seized.
