1.[You seem to be a clever hands on sort of mini owner,]

2.[wouldn't you llike to know how to adapt a modern 8 port head to your mini for a few hundred pounds, or how to fuel inject it, paint it properly if you didn't know how to, fit mapped ignitions, fabricate roll cages...cheap disc brake converisions for 10" wheels, port your own head, building a 200 hp motor without selling your organs? ]

3.[Paid?! LOL! I'm not getting paid for doing it so no, but I might buy you a drink at a show! ]

4.[A good point though is why don't the existing mini magazines do this, to find out what you really all want? Pretty poor that can't be bothered don't you think?!]

1. :( Not really, was a mechanic in the Army many years ago so having to relearn it all.

2. :saywhat: No way, my motto in life is KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid

3. Drink? :( You're on!

4. I've done a couple of Market research things that were in both mags over the last couple of years. :(

Thanks! We hope to include the exellent TMF in some way as there are a number of good projects here in the making and the forums ARE the mini scence now. There is a real sense of community on the forums that would be nice to incorporate into the magazine.

Just a thought.

You were saying about digital for the US, would that not be possible for here? You could despatch from wherever, you would not need any premises and customers could pay by paypal.

An interesting question, because the government state that VAT is payable at 17.5% on pdf magazines as they are classified as a service and not a publication like a magazine, which are zero rated for VAT. So it would be no cheaper really.

The reason this is interesting is that I would like to be able to supply like this for users who have a disablity so their reader software could process the magazine and read it out. So I have asked Customs and Exise to clarify this as I would see that as total descrimination against those with disabilities if they had to pay MORE than a more able person. This is technically unlawful under the disability descrimination act.

So yes, you can, but the VAT man will want his bit. May be a few pence cheaper. I will keep you posted on this!

The end price does not matter everything has a theoretical market price , so there is no point undercutting other publication to gain sales. Products sell on their own merit.
Plus if you charge the market rate it is better for you!!

Good points all of them. We will be a much higher quality magazine in every way, paper quality, binding, reproduction, number of pages of REAL content and not undercutting others.

I'm not even sure that we will affect the competition at all, ours is a totally different market. They tend to cover the fluffy side of minis, where as we are hard core performance and restoration as well as feature cars. We will sell, as you say, on merit and I hope that giving mini enthusiasts what they really want in a better quality package will result in sucess and happy readers.

We will also have some amazing competitions that should draw a good circulation. My lips are sealed on that one, but you will be amazed at the prizes on offer over the first 4 issues!

Thanks for taking the time to comment by the way, really appreciated!

Hello and happy new year to you all! Seven Magazine is currently 4 months ahead of our launch schedule thanks to a legion of writers, tech columnists, photographers, the design team and of course me, the editor, working silly hours to get it all done!

The first issue is almost ready for print and will be available in spring. Doing the dyno runs for the 998 turbo project car this week, very exiting! Just waiting for the distribution deals to be finalised, the website to be finished, data protection act licences etc, all those silly little things that seem to take ages!

You will be able to either buy MAGA7INE in the shops or on our web site either as a subscription or a single issue to get a taster, though I know you will love it! You all helped shape the content!

Bought off our site, you will get a substantial discount over the cover price, even for a single issue and you can buy it via our secure server to be posted anywhere in the world.

My lips are sealed on content, don't want to give too much away before the big day, but I can tell you we have more hard core tech, (not just copied from a Haynes manual or how to put a grease gun on your balljoints......no names.....), in depth features over more pages in great detail on the cars, stunning photograpy and design and a great complimentry web site with some brand new ideas, a first for any magazine we know of, you will see when it goes live :w00t:

For all those I contacted at Christmas, I will be emailing you over the coming weeks, I currently have some 200 emails a day to attend to and we try to reply as fast as possible. Still working at 1.30 am

There will be an announcement on the forum when we launch. I hope you will check us out!

Maga7ine was last active sometime in march.....

I really would like to see this go ahead. I've been reading all the topics and there are some great ideas would be a shame not to see it at all.
