Hi,

I have a Rover mini italian job, 1992 model. It's a great runner no problems, apart from when its raining and wet out side on the roads, is there any other ways of stopping the wet getting through to my engine mainly my leads other then getting a splash guard (which are really hard to get hold of) because my engine miss fires every time.

Any help on this would be a plus, as this damn weather isn't helping at all.

Regards

Martin

You could try one of the 'ghetto' methods for example the sandwich bag as mentioned previously, or cutting the ends of the fingers off a latex glove and putting it over the top of your dizzy cap (the HT leads sticking out through the fingers). You could even try blanking off a section of the grille with a rag or something as a temporary fix.

Although a splash-guard would be more effective I should think. Check your local scrapyard for any Minis....that's where I got mine!

i cabled tied a bit of old mudflap that i found at the side of the road when water got in and killed mini , behind the grille, infront of the distributor, its been there for about 6 weeks now, and been fine, it looks a bit tatty, but i was desperate and it does the job

Hi Guys,

Ive finaly found a splash/weather guard on ebay, just a play on words then it poped up so brought one straight away, so while im waiting for the guard ive tried the sandwich bag trick, amazing its really worked tonight not a sign of engine splatter.

Just got to wait till the guard arrives now!

Cheers for your help guys.

Martin
