Yeah on your mini you should have three brackets two coming from the top of the rocker cover which sits on top of your Cylinder head and one at the bottom of your engine directly under your Distributer, if you look down you should see it.
All you need to do is take the grill off so you can get at it easier place the weather shield on the bottom bracket first, some people use it and some people don't, it depends on you really as it doesn't really matter, i didn't instead i just slipped the shield down the front of the engine right behind where the grill goes, make sure it goes in front of your distributer and all leads, then connect up the top of the shield to the two top brackets using the clips provided. Its very easy to fit and very sturdy, already proven a must have on your mini as it works and stops the wet getting to your leads/ electrics.

If you don't have brackets connected up already then place the two on the top of your rocker cover, its all nut and bolts so should be self explanatory. :D

My rally Minis have to go through deep water and I do the following:

Coat the distributor cap where the leads go into the cap with a non-conductive silicone grease. Plaster it on liberally including around the cap tp dizzy base.
Spray Ignition Sealer onto the leads and plug aps. Note: it's 'Ignition Sealer', not 'Damp Start' as Damp Start is just for getting the water off the ignition leads.
Coat the coil onnetions with silione grease.
Finally spray the whole ignition system again with Ignition Sealer.
Ignition sealer comes in a spray can from good accessory shops.

I don't use a rubber glove or plastic bag as if moisture gets inside it can cause more problems than it solves.
