it's sad and everything but lets look at this logically.....its a wild animal

if i fell or got dragged into a lion/bear enclosure i'd expect to get my ass handed to me, and i wouldnt blame it as i'm lunch or play fun.

these things are more intelligent and everything but so are humans and look how messed up some of them are!

Its what you get for messing with nature, anything smaller than the ocean is captivity for a whale, immoral and cruel. Not that i think she deserved it.

I agree, plus there's a big clue in the name . . . . . don't ever try to tame anything whose name has the word 'killer' in it ;)

prob thought she was a seal or something! i feel so sorry for whales in captivity, they are the most beautiful animals! i know orcas are technically dolphins, but there more powerful than dolphins!

whales are so powerful and clever that in my eyes they shouldn't really be messed with! why do you think they have that nickname! nobody really knows orcas as orcas, they know them as killer whales!

It was suggested in Radio1 that the whale had killed before - so why keep it as a public attraction, release it?

The lady didn't deserve it, but makes you realise your own mortality and they way you live your life.

wouldnt survive in the wild after being in captivity for so long though! that was in 1991 according to that report, thats 19 years ago!! how long was it in captivity before that? i think the whales was "playing" with her, but obviously our bodies are so much more feeble than theirs, so we cant fight or "play" back, im guessing that she drowned rather than malled to death though

Just seen it on the news and the eyewitness statements said that he leapt out of the water and grabbed her around the waist then dragged her underneath the water ;)

yeah but jump out the water like a dolphin and grab her, or jump up with just his "head" out the water and grab her? people exaggerate on things like this!

Yesterday or day before.
I was (un)fortunate enough to be working at London Zoo when the then Head Keeper of the elephants, Jim Robson, was crushed to death by one of his charges.
Sad times & a tragic loss.

Keeping an intelligent wild animal captive in a small enclosure is always going to be risky.

i saw the show in october, it is very impressive but one woman was hurt the day i went when it flicked her off its nose into a wall.... they all know the dangers but it is still sad someone has been lost. unless its been caught on video who actually knows how/why it happened, stories seem to be conflicting.
