Danie might have a good idea.Insurance chats are everywhere at all ages. Most need you to be 21 or 24 for temp cover.

just have a look at your own policy, i was third party last year and only 17 and the insurance on my mini covered me to drive any car that isnt in my name, if u'r fully comp u more than likely have this already

I'm surprised by this... I've never known a TPFT policy cover driving other vehicles, and I was also surprised to get it on my FC policy when I was 22 (classic car policy), the standard age to be in with a chance of this option with almost every insurance company is 25.

I got this with Eagle Star many years ago, I was TPFT and could drive any car which I didnt own.
I was also under 25 (prob 22 or 23)

has anyone actually gone on holiday somewhere and bought a cheap crap car instead of renting?

For example, and I know its a bit farfetched, but could I buy a car when I arrived in Dublin and then have it insured for a week for free with the Hpi check thing, then sell it?

just an idea!
