Well guys I'm finally gonna get my mini insurance this week after waiting 5 long months to get my written off car removed from my front drive. Firstly I know that I need to be part of a club so is the british mini club the best one to sign up to or are there others? (I would sign up to TMF but you know...) Keeping in mind my mini is COMPLETELY standard and I live in London which companies would you recommend? can a list or something be created adding in any new ones.

Footman James were nothing special IMO (well I am 18) - their fully comp doesn't even allow you to drive any other vehicle whilst your under 25. Worth getting a quote in - don't forget to limit your mileage.

Most insurers wont let under 25's drive other cars fully comp. Footman james are really good, but only do classic policys with limited mileage for young drivers.

You agree a value with the insurance company, otherwise they will just value it at a very low figure if you write it off in a crash.
I'm with A Flux who have a special classic mini policy + discounts and they are on the ball.

agreed value, when/if you crash or your car is stolen you get the payout of the agreed price and not the book value... (thats a breif description, google it!)

im pretty sure you need a club to value it or something along those lines, and then tell the insurance and they may send some1 out to look aswel

i was going to use james footman when i turned 17 in may wooo but then found out i wont build up my new claims which i need as it be my first year

Yes, the terms vary but you usually have to supply photos as well. A Flux has just started charging extra -- £10 I think. Ask around.
EDIT It doesn't alter the premium I pay. I usually do it separately about a month after I've renewed the premium.
EDIT TWICE Sorry, I should say A Flux isn't so good for young drivers. I'm just citing them for the agreed value thingy.

im 22 have only held my license 2 years. had my first mini wrote off in the first year of my insurance(not my fault by the way) and im using lancester insurance. there cheap and im on an agreed valuation with all mods declared. i think the best thing for us young drivers is to shop around i wanted to use adrian flux but the cheapest they could do with all mods declared was 1000 but with lancaster its only 568.

agreed valuation is the most important part to be honest because i didnt have an agreed valuation the first year and they tryed to offer me 700 for my mini lol. ended up with 2200 and got to keep the mini
