Easy to fit and makes the change lever movement much shorter. However, it doesn't really speed up the actual gear change as the limiting factor is the synromesh in the box and it becomes easier to 'beat' the syncro and damage the box.
Quite nice to drive with though.

I've hard bad things about not genuine quickshift, so if you want one, get hold of a genuine KAD quickshift.
They're pretty useless, as they dont really speed up gear change, but are nice to drive. On the downside, as stated above, its easy to damage the gearbox with them..

I bought one from minisport and put it in my old mini, and found it to be awful! Sloppy, inaccurate, and you have to chop the old gear stick apart to get the spring off, so you can't even go back to the standard one. Then reverse didn't work, so i had to shorten the spring with a grinder until it went into gear. Not worth the money IMO, but i've hear better things about the KAD items.

I have a KAD one, wasn't too bad fitting (once I'd given up trying to fit it insitu and removed the whole thing and got it on the bench). It took a little time to get it to engage all gears smoothly, you have to bolt it in in exactly the right place or it won't work. Probably had the whole job done in a couple of hours.
I think the biggest benefits are the looks and the 'lift-for-reverse' collar, that's what I bought it for anyway. It definately feels different to drive. My KAD one has a real positive gear selection now. 1st, clonk, 2nd, clonk, 3rd, clonk, 4th. (Clonk, but in a good way

I fitted one of the original type (made by k.a.d.) to my spi about 8 years ago and have had no problems with it. As a lot of people say it doesn't quicken the shift just shortens the throw.

Get a original KAD, others will fit but believe me sooner or later you will end up $#% at it, so get a KAD
You'll never like driving a mini without one again lol
As mentioned, you dont have to, but its much easier to remove the whole linkage and put it together on the bench

I love that "race car" sound in every shift.has a real positive gear selection now. 1st, clonk, 2nd, clonk, 3rd, clonk, 4th. (Clonk, but in a good way
