is it just me or are the heaters in mini's absolutely JUNK ! :)

they should be called coolers rather than heaters

or could there just be a problem withy my heater. i have bought and fitted a new matrix and still no difference. i have also unblocked the pipes and still no change.

so my only solution is that they are just crap heaters.

Mine's brilliant :)

What sort of bypass do you have on your mini and what degree rating is your thermostat?

They are a nice easy thing to change. I got another thermostat housing gasket too as mine fell apart when I took it off (they are really cheap)
if you need any help let me know but should be pretty simple

A new matrix should make it proper toasty inside!! My heater is brill.

Are both pipes going to and from the heater hot? If not, you still have air in the system

Oh ok, that's your problem then. To bleed the system you need to hold the various heater hoses in the engine bay below the level of the water in the top of the rad.

Run the engine at fast idle, with the rad cap off and the heater knob in the hot position. make sure the hoses are below the rad level and keep topping the coolant up until you start getting hot hoses to and from the heater. Replace the cap, go for a drive and check the coolant level when you return (and after it's cooled down for safety).

Top it up again and you should be bled through properly

My heater used to be warm but now it just leaks warm into my car!
Why do you think this is happening?

This might sound daft, but are you sure the valve which controls the water flow to the heater is working? The one you adjust with the heater cable in the car.

Have you checked the Heater Matrix? Might just have split the pipe or could need a new matrix.
