Hey, I'm thinking of buying a Austin 1985, it seems to be in good condition and running well I just wondered if anyone knew how much parts would cost in general? It doesn't need anything now but if something did break I just want to make sure its not going to bankrupt me to fix it. Sorry for the vaugueness.

Compared to modern blandmobiles, the parts prices on classic Minis are still very economical.

It's just bodywork and rust that's very pricey to put right and so make sure there's no hidden horrors. Use a magnet to ensure all the body panels consist of steel and not filler, cardboard, newspaper or other such carp.

There are lots of favourite rusting areas on Minis and do a search because they've been highlighted hundreds of times in buying tips etc.

Depends how you drive and how you look after it. Check out the Mini Spares site and you'll get a idea of prices.

Thanks very much for the quick replies. Do you know how readily available parts would be? Any other advice or concerns about buying a Mini?

All parts are readily available. The only concern is rust, rust and even more rust. So be warned.

Apart from that Minis are highly addictive and generally don't lead to bigger things because it's the Mini you'll be addicted too.
