Could do with some others on whats best and good value. Seen Turtlewax Ice at hellfords and Mer.£20
but are they any good. I only like to do the job once a year.

Autoglym shampoo & conditioner
Autoglym Hi-Def Wax
Autoglym Hi Gloss polish (gold label on bottle)
Autoglym metal polish for brightwork
Autoglym glass polish
~4 hours later, finishes with a pretty decent result IMO

As for once a year, if you want "protection" for that long, I think you'd need to invest in something rather expensive.. but I'm not an expert. I'm a "once a week" man myself

Ian

Not sure what the length of time it lasts on there as I'm always washing them/re-applying it.

Turtle Wax Wheel Clean
Houshold glass cleaner (cheap and does the same thing)

No, seriously, I have used Autoglym for years since it works a treat and people kindly give me bottles of the stuff for Xmas

I find Autosol works better than Autoglym metal polish, but coca cola or pepsi will sometimes do at a pinch, although of course it doesn't protect the metal.
IMHO the first rinse before shampooing is the critical one since a head-on blast might send small grit grains scraping across the paintwork. I use a clean watering can or light hose spray on the roof and work downwards.
I heard somewhere that good shampoo lifts the grit and carries it off the paint.
I am quite a sad person to be so obsessed with cleaning but it's just one of my little pleasures
