Mer polish last's forever, I found that when I used Autoglym polish it seems to fade quicker. Also I found that after washing it twice, the shine had nearly gone, even tho I had given it 4 coats. With Mer after I have washed it upto 5 times + the shine is still great and the water still runs of when I chuck the bucket of water over the car.
I have always been a Mer fan. Here is a picture of my car after a wash with Turtle Wax shampoo and then a quick shine up with Mer polish

Years ago i had a black Golf and in a rush went through a car wash.It took some time to polish back.
I start with a very soft spray first to remove all body dirt so the spounge does not pick up any bad material then any good cheap shampoo with wax in it. Air dry then The Polish.
I am going to try the MER in the big can.
With windows the old way was wet news paper then a clean rub over inside and out it works great due to the ink.
My old dad used to use washing up liquid on his wow watch the rust come.

Thanks! It makes my car really shiny, and honestly it does last. I do mine 3 times a week, but once I left it for 2 weeks, and it still didn't really need a polish but I can't help but do it haha.
Once you have done it a few times, you get a good build up of polish on the car, that's why if someone scratches it slightly... you can get it out. With the ammount of polish I have on mine anyway. Except I now need a respray on my boot as someone took a key to it

No, seriously, I have used Autoglym for years since it works a treat and people kindly give me bottles of the stuff for Xmas
so why shell out for something else?
Keep an eye out for the Auto Trader stands at shows... For something (usually) like £1 you get a bottle of auto glym, an auto trader mag and some other leaflets...

Body:
Meguiars Shampoo (Gold Class or NXT, lasts ages and cleans well)
AutoGlym Super Resin Polish - good for giving a nice shine and contains 'fillers' to help hide little blemishes.
Meguiars #16 Paste Wax - leaves a nice glossy finish, easy to apply and remove and protects the paint for months at a time between applications and it's a nice big tub so lasts ages

I use a wash mitt too, helps prevent scratches caused by sponges dragging grit across the surface instead of lifting it away from the paint.
Wheels
Autoglym Clean Wheels & a Soft wheel brush/paintbrush
Glass
AutoGlym Fast Glass, nice streak free glass cleaner.
A pack of cheap microfibres for buffing wax, glass cleaner and general dusting is a good idea too

I could go on and on and on, but I don't think I need to!
I'm a bit of a detailing freak

I use MER Exterior Vinyl/Plastic gel (Not sure what its called) before hand (it restores the colour but also helps protect it if you happen to get any on the other pieces)
