Just wondering were i can put my intercooler and oil cooler becuase there is hardly any space left.
bearing in mind that I have a fibreglass front end and i`ve got coilovers to go on so it will be lowerd.

ECU and Carbs?

this conversion may be a little out of your reach!

im sorry but how did you come to that conclusion ??

and whats wrong with using an ECU AND Carb ?

Also to be honest i would use a Megajolt setup to control the ignition, also personally i would throw away the boost pressure ecu if you have not done so (but thats just me)and use modified/different actuator to the correct pressue for your engines compression ratio as the original one stops boost at 4/4.5 psi iirc without the ecu.
Also Pop yourself over to the Turbominis forum and have a look around as the members are more than happy to help out newbies when it comes to forced induction .

ECU = Fuel Injection

you can not have both Fuel injection and Carb... you did know that?

ringonezero your completly wrong, ecu does not mean injection by any means. you can use an ecu for ignition in replacment for the dizzy, most use megajolt but there is many different options, i am currently deciding which ecu to use on my turbo project. its has many many advantages over a dizzy.

hope that helps.

theres some useful info over at turbominis.co.uk

Yes i did know that, you obviously dont know that ECU stands for Electronic Control Unit, An ECU can be used to control everything from Airbags to Immobilisers to suspension etc....

hmmm....

ok http://en.wikipedia....ne_control_unit

I would have assigned ECU with fuel injection and used a different term for ignition control

"what ECU works best with carbs ?" was the question and the answer is NONE as carbs dont need one

And i would prob ask all questions related to turbo conversions over on the Turbominis forum

stop defending yourself, you where wrong just admit it... it obvious if someone want to run a carb and ecu its usually for ignition or if its a metty turbo conversion it could be the standard ecu that controlls boost at certain rpm's.

engine controll unit: if a computer controlls any part of the engine no matter how small its an ecu, it dosnt have to be running injection to run an ecu, in fact there is many many exaples of ecu's and carbs!

p.s. although turbominis is the best place to ask turbo questions there is no reason it cant be asked here.

Carbs may not "need" an ecu but rover did use a carb that was controlled by an ecu Clicky !

like rick, i had no experiance with forced induction engines, i still dont have a great knowledge but im learning and know the basics, most of the knowledge i know is from reading info on the oracle that is turbominis forum for countless hours :)

you best off finding out what else you need with it like an edis unit etc...

and have you read up and made sure this is the one you want? i am finding it hard to decide myself.

:P
