So can you buy these or is it built in as part of the clocks ?

I've seen a drawing of the separate bits in some sales list somewhere ... sorry, can't remember .... Keep looking

Like Teapot says, the surround around the clocks is a seperate piece and is held in place by three small brackets on the reverse. The clocks are not part of the surround, they are simply screwed to it , again, from the back.

Just done something similar in my Cooper Sport. Previous owner had enlarged the dash vent holes and fitted speakers in place of the vents > Bought a whole genuine second hand dash off ebay, (£120), and transfered all my bits to it. I bought it as a damaged dash, it was the clocks surround that had cracked!!! Although mine is the 'alloy' style dash and I think the surround is just sprayed silver unlike your veneer. Must be another common mpi fault.

I was looking for months for a dash but, eventually one turned up. Keep trawling through ebay, you'll get one sometime.

Aftermarket dashes are not the same as the genuine article, you will notice the main cluster surround is different on the aftermarket ones compared to the genuine and also the vernier never looks quite the same compared to genuine dashes. The only way to fix it really (if its the main cluster surround thats gone) is to source a complete dash off ebay, some rough ones usually come up with mint surrounds that go cheap. Most people sell the dashes complete.

I brought my dash off ebay, genuine one and its mint, payed a lot more for it though .

Yup good to know i can get just the surround...but if it means getting the whole dash i will, and try n punt that out.

Not to keen on after market, as i want to keep my cooper origonal as possable .
