didn't think they tested the Exhaust Noise level as part of the MOT. Could be wrong though, maybe one of the MOT Testers who are on here could advise officially

What exhaust are you running?
You can even use a twin box exhaust. It helped me to keep noise under the 95db limit.

I had a twin DTM exhaust and it failed the MOT. I wasn't that bothered because it was a bit too loud for me and i wanted to replace it. I think the wording was something like "excessive noise for type of car". The guy said what most people do is just replace the exhaust for the MOT for a quieter one then put the loud one back on after. Thats what people do with the cat in the exhaust, just put it on for the MOT then they take it off again.

I replaced the exhaust for a straight through single box RC40 and they passed that.

I used to use tape wraped around a bit of pipe inserted up the tailpipe to get my rally car through scrutineering.

Not sure what it will do to the emmissions though as it will increase the exhaust back pressure.
