hi,
i'm thinking about buying a mini
It has a roll cage in it and i was just wondering if anybody knew, if i told my insurance about it would it reduce my quote as it is additional strength... or will it increase my quote as it could give the impression i'd be racing
Any help would be great
Cheers

Roll cages normally the insurance up, especially if you're young. As to be thinking about putting a device to act as a barrier around you in a crash, you're normally thinking about driving the car pretty hard..

will be the same as removing the rear seats... as soon as you do that they assume your going to race it lol!
silly i know, but they need to make money somehow!

It isn't set in stone that it will be a ridiculous rise in cost, mine cost an extra £6 or £9 when i declared the cage and the harnesses, i was 20 at the time i believe!
Having said that i know some people who have been told that the policy wouldn't cover it so it's best to check first

I would check that it is either a roll cage for motorsport or a show cage, I may be out of line here as I don't have a show cage, however a show cage is just to make the car "look" racy.......
It may make the car more of a risk for theft though
