Hi

just a few quick questions about rustoleum, how well is it at hiding surface blemishes? ill be painting the car black and know how apparently black shows up blemishes very easily so was thinking if its a touch thicker than spraying it may hide small problems i have in my paint work.

also where do you get it from and what type of rustoleum do you get? are they suitable to do say metal car body pannels and also fibreglass front end pannels?
and also if it is suitable for both types of pannels what should i do to prep the FG pannels before rollering?

Thanks
Dave

not too sure on how to prep the fiberglass sorry...
the rustoleum you use for rollering is called combicolour, if you are rollering you use white spirit to thin it out
you can purchase it online, they have their own colour charts... or brewers mix it to ral codes.

I am toying with the idea of spraying Rustoleum using a HVLP electric Spray system. I have sprayed Celly on a test bonnet and it comes out cracking using a 1.5 mm needle. Think Bungle had some excellent resullts using the same stuff on his camper.

Do think having read various threads on here that Rustoleum gives soem good results and is very good value with the added benefit of inhibiting rust.

Exactly what im planning on doing. I know a couple of guys who have, Chris @ Retro Retrims being one of them...
I just cant justify paying for a 'proper' spray job, and dont want a cheap job so would rather try it myself!

Pretty sure Bungle rollered his.

:)

ps. sorry just realised, the others I have seen used conventional compressors not HVLP jobbies.

im on about rollering anyway, one of the reasons being space confinments in my garage and also not being an extreamly clean enviroment in which compressed air would disturb greater than walking

what colour rustoleum do you want ?

if your happy with a RAL colour then go to your local brewers clicky

if you want your rustoleum mixed to a mini paint code then go to avenue coatings clicky

i painted on fibre glass, old paint and etch primer all with no problems or primer coat

your after rustoleum combi colour

im just after black, any black will do so Thanks, nearest one is 17 mile away.

im sure the amount im after will be on other threads so ill search for that in a little bit.

the fibreglas i have is unpainted but in that white gel coat so i think ill best prime it before.

in your oppinion bungle do you think it would hide minor surface blemishes?

Thanks!

the paint sort of self levels so should help cover lumps and bumps
