I am soon to be fitting Megajolt to the mini but am using a MAP setup and need to fit some vac take offs to the manifold.

I am using a stainless steel maniflow weber manifold - what do people recommend i use for the "posts" on the mainfold and the best way of attaching them without it looking gash?

Could they be fitted to the underside?

Would it be feasible to drill, and tap the maifolds to accept a brake union? that way I could fit a piece of copper brake pipe onto the rubber vac hose?

Has anyone got any ideas / help on this??

When I needed a brake vacuum take off for my Maniflow, I just welded on a piece of steel tube and then opened out the hole into the manifold. You could use something like the doo-dahs on these vacuum adaptors from Minispares - http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=34395. I have seen them for sale separately but can't remember where at the moment.

If you had a pair of the little griblets you could weld a couple of nuts of the same thread to the inlet, drill through the middle and then screw the griblets in. Make sure you use proper vacuum hose as the regular stuff collapses under the force of the vacuum.

1/4bsp is quite big - pipe threads go by the nominal bore of the pipe. If it's fabricated from thinnish tube it bay not take a thread. I'd go for a nut welded on as a boss or drill the carb mounting flange it it's thick enough.

I have seen those type of things on the 'bay and wondered if they would work!

I think the maniflow manifold is quite thick but would definately be goingalong the route of welding a nut the the manifold and using PTFE tape on the threads as well.

I am guessing that 1/8 BSP is more inline with the bore of a vacuum pipe?

yeah 1/8 is the size of the oil pressure switch, actually nptf thread but the same diameter. Have a hunt on the web for pneumatic fittings, I think M5 is quite common and easier to find nuts or taps.

National Pipe Taper Fine, I think. The yank equivalent of bsp, exactly the same size just an ever so slightly different pitch to be awkward. If you have an oil pressure gauge the adapter is nptf in to the block & bsp on to the pipe.

from what i know about delli's fitted to my VW you can't take the vacuum off the inlet manifold for the advance it has to come from the carb before the throttle butterfly

on a set of delli's there is a take off port for this

with delli's being very similar to webber carbs yours might or could be fitted with this

i find euro carb very helpful with things like this

Reading up on the megajolt site, it recommends not taking a vac feed from before the throttle body as it can give inaccurate readings - plus bearing in mind the ford setup it simply pulls a vac feed from the communal plastic manifold.

You say you welded some bosses on Harber - any more info on those?? I considered having some female brake fittings wleded to the manifold, then fitting some males to them with some right angled brake pipegoing into a normal vac hose.

Also the box you used for the vac to mege into looks mahoooosive - is it needed to be that big?
