Bit tricky to tell from the pictures.

Have you seam sealed the gaps?

It may not be sitting central, perhaps move it 5/6mm to the right, that would close up the gap at the bit by the bonnet. The last 2 pattern front panels I've fitted I've had to open up the locating pin(or even remove it) for the subby pear drop mounts, this was the only way to get front panel over enough to get a good gap.

Start at the centre and work your way out. The end pieces will pull into shape fairly easily.

Keep an eye on the bonnet gap as well.

Yeah, i took it off and cleaned all the lips, re-made the front panel lip. welded it and its hard to get the welder in to plug weld behind it, i am going to take it off again, and try again, i am going to use some of my step-dads clamps which i can use to pull it and try and get the gap perfect.

I will be replacing the other wing soon to i will be getting the rest of my panels this week.

Danny.

gland pliers are good for pulling the seams together, normally me and bro in law do it so one of us squeezes the seam tight the other welds.

we use clamps to align but just go round with the glands and squeeze right next to were we are welding.

Had the very same problem so as well as 'c' clamps and skin pins i used a sash clamp as well just for good measure

Unfortunately the front panel we had was not top quality and took a lot of hammer and block action as well to get the gaps right. (as right as possible)

that was just some body filler, i put it on and then used a linisher disc on my grider to make it just in the gap, then shaped it, but the wing is now off, and i am getting a new one, its too damaged for my liking ;) (i can be a bit of a perfectionist)

Just for info!!

Using Body filler in the seams is a VERY VERY VERY bad idea!!

No matter how much you weld them, the wing to front panel seam/wing to scuttle seam, will always move. If you fill the gaps with filler then it will crack as the body filler isn't flexible.

To fill the gaps use flexible seam sealer(not silcon sealent!!).

Ignorant question from someone in the Colony across the Pond:

I keep seeing reference to using a linisher or a linishing wheel. I have never heard the word before (I guess we don't speak proper English over here). What is it- a sander, grinder or what? Thanks.
