I'ts like at the top of the bonnet, near the windscreen, it keeps that part of the bonnet constantly lifted, normally used to keep the engine cool. My friend has some on his saxo which look quite mint :(

I think I remember reading in miniworld's aerodynamics wind tunnel test that raising the rear of the bonnet does not help to cool the engine, due to the low pressure created behind the raised edge.

Just worth a thought.

if you only want to do it to see what it looks like, u can put just one of the studs on the original hinges through the bonnet and leave the other one for the bonnet to sit on, it means the bonnet wont open all the way but it works and lets u see what it looks like and test like that

i've been thinking about doing this to my mini as i have bonnet pins on the rear of mine! i think you could get away with mounting the 2 rear pins a little bit higher and cutting the right length of hose to make sure it stays that high? would this work?

true, it actually creates a negative efect to cooling, by keeping the hot air in there.

you could make some steel brackets, that bolt between the hinges and bonnet.

I'm using plastic type washers under my bonnet pins to sandwich the bonnet at the right height, you could use those to do this, the good thing is they don't rattle or anything and are a snug fit over the pin so they don't move.
