one of the reasons i suggested the outboard amp, that way u can run the 6x9s of that and the little 10cm jobs off the HU and turn the bass rite down on them without affecting the bass response of the 6x9s?

that make sense to you?

This is the reason headunits have a fade function, to provide the balance to what ever your most powerful speakers are.

Theres no doubt that its best to run your speakers of an external amp providing its of a higher quality, but if your just going to use cheap crappy ones then theres no point, your just wasting money, you can get full controll through your headunit and the quality will be the same, if not possibly worse depending on the quality of your headunit.

The rockford amps used on my system cost more than double the total budget of your system, and i would still class them as intermediate amps, certainly not top end stuff.

understood, but you cant fade bass fromm front to back.. just the volume... unless you do a little bit of math and work out the value cap you need to work as a high pass filter (or bass stopper) for the little 10cm speakers as the bass will make the overall sound really crap anyway and the 6x9's will be fine with it...

Higth pass filter... I'm sure I've seen that on the box of the headunit.

I may have a set of 6 decent speakers from a friend, 6.5's, 4" (I think) and tweets with crossovers etc. I know they are very high quality, I've heard them in his car before. And they cost him £480 odd! I'm not paying that for them though :D

If I do get these, I'll spend a little more money on an amp and sub, would be a waste not to.

We'll see though!

Cheers for all the help
Dan :)

if your goin to be buyin the sub package any way go for a set of 10cm for the front 6.5" on the rear parcel shelf and run them from the head unit and try not to wack the bass up... then wen u do get the sub... turn the bass rite down on the HU and let the sub do the rest....

its what ive got in my car and it sounds almost spot-on!
