pmsl. I was being serious, thats kinda how they get there naturally.

I like the idea of a dollop of paint stripper thrown at the bonnet when its proped up against a wall, leave it for an hour, then wash jetwash it off, see what happens.

Ive just found a bug for sale which has given me some serious inspiration for a project. im thinking nato green, matt black bonnet, white steelies, and ace of spades decal on the roof. SLAMMED!

i want to get an mg metro and go for the ratlook, only difference is, i want it sparkling clean under the bonnet, and with a 16v head, or monster a series, imagine the look on peoples faces when you open the bonnet, or leave them standing, lmao!

I think you can drop porsche engines into old bugs, so that would be a laugh.

Still got to get a Caddy yet Was hoping to get one last night but someone beet me by £10 in the last second. Then same again today on a different one but by £300!

He just unnesseracraly bumped the price up for himself. And it was quite a state...

Anyone know what laquor would be best? Brush on if possible. And with the rustleom, can i just scratch up the surface of the original paint and will i need laquor too?

It's nigh on impossible to get that look straight away, I've ratted paint before by using 800 wet and dry paper, just rub til you go through in various places, then polish it up, makes it look like it;s just patina if you do it right! you can even go through to the metal if you want it to rust! you could go a bit more crazy and hit it with hammers and throw stones at it etc to damage the paint, but you have to do it in the kinda places where you would get wear with age, or it just looks stupid. Also lacquer it with satin lacquer to stop it rusting any more.. Some people would say it looks stupid anyway, but hey that's what freedom of speech is all about! Most ratty VW's are genuine patina rather than forced patina, I think that caddy looks awesome, but you could never recreate that look straight away, you;d have to give it years of hard work! You can buy some stuff that ages your paint, I think it's like a polish of some kind, Rikki off Vzi used it to age his Samba.

When i get it back home im going to have a good look over it as theres possibly a few bits of surface rust etc that i could emphasis.

With the laquor, is there anystuff that is brush on and any paticular brands better than others?

No idea, I'd spray it. Acrylic wood varnish might work, dries like plastic, and you can get it in satin. I'd thin it down though so it wouldn't show brush marks.
