Yeah its definately an upgrade worth doing! You usually see disk brake set-ups pass through ebay for about £50-£100. From what ive heard it isn't that hard a task to do. I think it involves switching the drive shafts and obviously disks, back plates plus the adition of calipers. hope this helps.

What size wheels are on it as this will decide what size discs/calipers you can fit aswell.........
Do you want new/recon parts or are you prepared/able to do a bit of refurbishment to keep the cost down?

That looks a pretty good set, I have discs and calipers off my MPI cooper but i have had to use the hubs and outer cv's for my project :saywhat:here you go this is an 8.4 inch brake set-up for 12inch + wheels.
8.4 inch brake set-up
Will be interesting to see what they go for but they have limited the market by only doing local pickup, i will post anything i sell..............

I did it to my 1980 City.
Find a set-up removed and in working order from a 84 onwards mini including drive shaft and hoses.
Undo balljoints and trackrod
Undo the hoses from the subframe end (hose goes from drum to subframe pipe - disc brake minis use a different lenegth hose)
Pop your old shafts out of the rubber joints
Pull the whole lot (can be heavy) thru the hole in subframe and away from car
Reverse the order when you put your disc brake ones in and then bleed your brakes etc.
Not too hard a job.
PS. I found a 2nd hand brake setup removed from the car day before for £50 including good pads and discs.
You might need CV grease for the driveshaft ends, wd40 for bolts.

hey everyone,
thanks for the help, doesnt sound as tricky as i first thought! whitch is lucky!
ive got 10"s on it at the moment not sure if i will stick to the 10s or go a bit bigger yet, would it be much work if i chose to change to a bigger set of wheels later on?
cheers

No, you can still run bigger wheels on the smaller hubs un discs. Its just you cant fit 10's over the 8.4inch discs and hubs as there isnt enough clearence for the wheels to spin freely over the calipers. Hope that helps you out!

Dont go to bigger wheels unless you really cant aford a cooper s setup. 10" wheels are the best!
