Hey peeps,

I'm thinking of knocking up some bodyshells in fibreglass for the current range of 1/5 scale offroad cars.

So, i'd like your input on what you'd think would be best.

Please vote away.

Very cool idea, im into rc cars and motorbikes never hada 1/5th scale but would be amazing at mo im building up a tamiya m03r chassis and have a montecarlo 94' shell and a plain unpainted shell to paint like my own mini Sprite!

I voted for standard saloon.

Well, minis are 10 feet long, so divide by 5, 2 foot long.

In practice, it'll be a little bigger than that, as the scale will be made to suit the wheelbase so that it looks right.

23-30cc engines around 4-5 bhp - so pretty big, heavy, and impressive.

I'll dig some photos out tonite.

Quite a bit last time i looked FG ones were like around £700 ready to run but, like most things are probably even cheaper now.

I also remember seeing some where im sure FG are releasing a 1/5th new BINI shell soon to.

EDIT its out now!! http://www.modelspor...mp;ItemID=34636 ,not cheap at all but very cool!

Before your sharp intake of breath, bear in mind I just sold a second hand truck shell for £100 and that was bendy polycarb. (189 Euros new plus shipping from Germany)

So, mine bout 60 to 70 quid.

When was this tamiya one released? I only know of tamiya 1/10th scale m series chassis and they had a 1/8th scale shell
on a 1/10th scale 4wd glow engine chassis.
Never seen a 1/4 scale tamiya mini that i can remember?

There are FG copies out there such as the Mutilator 6, Carson, etc that are way less money. Remember also that they run on standard unleaded petrol and 2-stroke scooter oil - so dead cheap to run. Plus they're really hard to break, and there's no faff with glow plugs and starter boxes etc etc.

I've got a well used FG Marder in not very good nick, but goes really well - owes me £200 - though I was very lucky when it was really badly advertised on the bay.

if you make these shells, ill definalty have a standard saloon shell from you, i already have a home made chassis with a 50cc mini moto engine fitted and ready to go, i was building a 1/6th scale mini pick up, but if you can make me a shell, i can trim the chassis down to suit the new shell and change the wheels :) ill try get a picture up of my current chassis (its rear wheel drive to, so should be rapid! especially with 50cc!!)

Very good idea, im into R/C big time (or was, till i had to sell them all to buy the mini :)) never had a 1/5th scale though, only nitro 1/8th scales. But if i ever had enough money to buy a 1/5th, id go for a round nose mini saloon ;)
