I'm trying to find that Minimag 10min tech article where they show you how to install one

I'm sure they mention it needs to be fused aswell, not run straightoff

i think mine shares the permanent live with the radio, straight from the battery with an inline fuse near the battery end

even if you jump off the radios harness fuse it to be safe. Ive seen so many cars come into my shop with broken radios due to them adding ciggy lighters and melting through the wiring harness

it is for a sat nav actually hahh,
just going to tie it up under the dash out of sight as it wont get used often.
i hadn't thought of fusing it..good idea!
i'm sure there is a spare slot or two in the fusebox that i could use
what is the best for the live?
i was thinking of tapping into one of the ignition as i ididn't like the idea of using the radio one,
or would that be safe enough?

I ran a wire from the fusebox from the 3rd connector down on the left (as your looking at it) which connects to an inline fuse then to the socket. The earth just goes to a M5 bolt I mounted under the dash for the radio etc.

I used a 5 pin relay and took a live from the starter solenoid. I used an ignition live to switch the relay to when I switched off the engine the 5th pin on the relay became live. I then put a special timing circuit between the 5th pin and my interior lights so when I switched off the engine my interior lights come on for a short time. It's very nice in the dark.
