Long Sutton how far away is that from Market Deeping? I have just got fitted 165x70x10's )might be 65's)to my sons 6x10 alloys. They did not use the machine to lever the tyres on but instead used a hand held 25 ltr compressed air cylinder with a wide flat nozzle and quick release valve.

Basically the rim is clamped to the normal machine then the tyre fitted over as normal. They then raise the tyre up slightly to contact the inner rim pointed the beastie into the tyre and released the compressed air and bang and i mean bang one tyre fitted.

£48 fitted ask for Charlie or Rob, very helpful.

Just checked on google maps its about 28 Miles away, but some good news i left the tyre and rim at the place and i got a phone call from the owner saying he had managed to get the tyre on after about 1 hour of struggling :D and that he would do the rest and weight them all for £10 a tyre. So on monday looks like i'll be off there again to get the rest done. But thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone has offered :dontgetit:

Good For you mate.

I knew it would be posible just takes alot of messing about geting every last bit of stretch posible out of them by ajusting the machine.

That sounds a decent price too. We charge about £5 a rim and a few quid for balance.

As for the guy on about the "tank with the flat nozzel" This is called a Cheetah Good peice of kit but Its only used for Bangin on beeds of tires that are loose on the rim to be inflated normaly. The problem the OP had was they tires were to tight on the rim so the actual machine wasnt able to strech them over, But it appears they have managed it.

to be honest didnt like the sound of bashing the tyre on in case it damaged the rims, plus they're chrome so if it chipped it or took the chrome off i wouldnt be very happy.

This bit of kit was used because to be honest the tyre width was not right for the width of the wheel. You see lots of modified cars on the road with wide rims and narrower tyres, i can imagine this helps to cut down on tyre rub when the the car is lowered.

For the result we wanted this is what we got and they look right.

The only banging was not metal on metal but the noise of the escaping compressed air and the bead popping onto the rim. No damage to the wheels at all and i would have kicked off as they were brand new.
