Can't believe I've done it, as it says put diesel in my classic 998 mini by mistake, our others cars are both diesels clearly wasn't concentrating. Any way car ran for a couple of miles on the petrol still in the lines before it came to a stop, whats the damage likely to be and what have iIgot to do to get it going again, will there be any long term damage? any advice would be much appreciated, please be gentle!!!!!!

how much petrol was already in the tank before you put diesel in? how many litres of diesel did you put in?

itll probably be ok if you drain the tank, then refill it with diesel, i doubt it would have done much damage...

dont worry, ive made this mistake before, lmao!

drain the tank, replace any fuel filters, clean your plugs (maybe oily from the diesel) check overflow on carb, just try and make sure your clear all diesel from the car, maybe give it a mini service...oil, filters etc, then fire it up it may puff and sputter for a few seconds but you should be ok

unlike putting petrol in a diesel - if you drain it as advised above I do not think there will be any damage

yep drain tank and fill with petrol crank it for a while untill she runs, you might want to siphen the fuel lines as well if you want to do things properly.

Also you can run a diesal thats had a bit of petrol put in it. Just put lots of two stroke oil like 4 leaters in the tank and top up with diesel untill its cleared.

This should make you feel better. Guy bought NOS energy drink and thought it was fuel additive.

Make sure you drain the mixed fuel into containers - could put it in your diesel cars (there was also a show - think it was 5th Gear - who showed the effects of putting diesel in a petrol and vice versa - the diesel car ran with the petrol but not the other way)

Saw that on another forum - couldnt stop laughing XD

Yup the diesel ones are bigger, but when the Mini was produced the internal diameter of the filler necks are wide enough for both to fit.
